A Brief History
It all started in the summer of 2003 when three unlikely teenagers began to juggle. With just three balls down we were ready for more and it was at this point that we became addicted. Three balls led way to crazy three ball tricks like one up two up, behind the back, in between the legs, and canadian insanity. Then in the spring of 2004 someone had the frightful but awesome idea of trying four balls. By April these three teenagers were doing solid four ball fountains and had recruited a number of beginner three ball jugglers. Being totally immersed in the madness there was nowhere to go but to start club juggling. In May we had the three club cascade down pat with a few tricks in our arsenal and began learning the truly amazing fun of club passing. We had already passed balls but passing clubs is just way cooler. June led us into the uncharted territory of Juggling Festivals which was indescribable. For the first time we witnessed jugglers doing five balls, passing clubs in crazy patterns, and unicycles. It was here that we joined our first club, The Ozark Juggling Society, and had the thrill of juggling and learning from people much better than us. Advancing at a rapid pace now, July was when we started juggling for money at local summer festivals and in front of places like Wal-mart. In August the Clarksville Juggling Club was formed founded by juggler Chris Kotter. Since the formation of this entity we have tried to have weekly meetings on Wednesday nights 6:30-7:30 at the Clarksville Multi-Purpose building to better our juggling skills. In October Chris Kotter, CJ Wheeler, and Fayetteville juggler Willie Benson competed in the community talent show, but from a lack of practice time were unable to place. |
